Kiwanis Parade
Bands, horses, royalty, and many other entries will be on hand starting at noon Saturday, June 20, 2009, for the annual St. Helens Kiwanis Community Parade. The parade route is down Columbia Boulevard and finishes in Olde Towne.
The parade will feature a wide variety of entrants, including ball teams, school groups, antique cars, church groups, businesses, clowns and even a few politicians.
The St. Helens Kiwanians have organized the annual event for more than 20 years, and the parade has been held the third weekend in June for approximately 50 years. The parade is sponsored by the Columbia River People’s Utility District, Pacific Stainless Products, and Schnitzer Steel.
For those wishing to participate, registration begins at 9 a.m. the morning of the parade at Columbia Boulevard across from the Chamber of Commerce in the Emmert Motors lot.
Judging will be at 11 a.m. Ribbons will be awarded for first through fourth places in 26 categories. There will be a sweepstakes trophy for overall best entry, the mayor’s trophy, and the president’s trophy.
